CDN stands for Content Delivery Networks. It refers to a highly dispersed platform used to enable faster content delivery. It reduces the physical distance of the server from the user to minimize delays and traffic in the loading of web content.
For instance, if someone from country A wants to browse a particular content of country E, through CDN, there is no need to pass via B, C, and D just to get into E.
CDN is thus responsible to direct the origin to its destination immediately at the same time maintain the speed performance of a site to prevent latency. In the absence of CDN, the origin server will have to respond one at a time for every single user-request which causes a high-traffic and lagging of the web page intervals.
Any activity done online is benefiting from CDN. It is being used in everyday activities such as watching YouTube videos, online shopping, reading social media news feeds, and reading blog articles.
